    International students

SRC encourages Government to design international student superannuation strategy, making it easy for them to take their superannuation when they leave Australia.

Many temporary residents, such as international students, do not take their superannuation when they leave Australia. The Senate Economics Committee holds an inquiry into bills that will move unclaimed super to the Australia Taxation Office (ATO) - seeking to “reduce the number of lost accounts and unclaimed money in the superannuation system which can arise when temporary residents depart Australia without taking their superannuation with them.” Temporary residents will then be able to retrieve their unclaimed superannuation from ATO.

The SRC encourages the Government to compliment other strategies to reduce lost superannuation by explicitly encouraging international students to take their superannuation when they leave Australia.

    Climate Change

Universities and other research and training institutions can only meet current and future demand for climate change professionals if Federal Government leads the way and prioritises climate change.

SRC recommends industry climate change guidelines as well as curricula and diverse work placement opportunities. The SRC continues to remind the government that Universities must be properly funded to achieve world class research and teaching.
